"Five workers face charges of illegally selling multi-day passes to Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando and SeaWorld Orlando, according to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.
The defendants were arrested last week after the agency's Tourist Policing Unit conducted an undercover operation with theme park investigators at several shops on West U.S. Highway 192, sheriff's spokeswoman Twis Lizasuain said Tuesday afternoon.
Detectives recovered 860 tickets worth more than $111,000. Of those tickets, 510 were Disney passes, 250 were Universal passes and 100 were SeaWorld passes, a report stated.
Vendors typically buy multi-day passes from theme park visitors who do not use all of the days on the passes. Lizasuain said vendors sell the remaining days on the passes for less than 50 to 70 percent of the original cost.
Resale of multi-day passes is illegal in Florida. Buyers can be denied admission if theme parks scan the tickets and determine the holder is not the original buyer, Lizasuain said.
Daniel Alvarez, 22, of Kissimmee, Thao Nguyen, 23, of Kissimmee, Robert Latson, 32, of Poinciana, Janice Cintron, 35, of Orlando, and Patricia Landry, 61, of Davenport were charged with resale of multipday tickets. All were booked at the Osceola County Jail and released later on bail.
A sixth suspect remains at large."
