Untenstehend ein Ausschnitt aus meinem Disneyland-Reisebericht vom November 2011. (http://www.msemporium.de/board/showthread.php?t=24286)

Zusammengefasst hat es mir im Disneyland Hotel sehr gut gefallen. Von aussen unscheinbar, doch die Zimmer sind nach der Renovierung echt toll geworden. Die Nähe zu Downtown Disney und den beiden Parks (zu Fuss erreichbar) machen die hohen Preise zumindest etwas erträglicher. Nett auch die Characters, welche man nachmittags oft spontan in der Lobby des Fantasy Towers sieht.

Viel Spass bei meinen Eindrüclen aus diesem Hotel.

Es war zwar erst 13 Uhr, doch ich beschloss, dennoch mal nachzusehen, ob mein Zimmer schon bereit ist. Vor dem Eingang wurde ich durch eine Baustelle begrüsst. Das Disneyland Hotel ist in der Endphase einer langen Renovierung, welcher sämtliche Zimmer, die Fassade der 3 Gebäude und der Poolbereich unterzogen wurde.

Aha, da gibt’s also eine neue Bepflanzung – und einen Brunnen, wie ich dann später von meiner Suite aus gesehen habe.

Das Front Desk strahlte eine eher kühle Atmosphäre aus und wollte so gar nichts mit Disney zu tun haben – wären da nicht freundliche Cast Members gewesen.

Mein Zimmer war noch nicht bereit – aber man überreichte mir trotzdem schon mal den Umschlag mit den unzähligen Unterlagen und kassierte die Parkgebühren ein. Parken kostet hier, auch in den Disney-Resorts. Man werde eine Text Message auf das Handy meiner Bekannten schicken, wenn das Zimmer bereit sei (ausländische Nummern wollten sie wohl nicht haben). Immerhin konnte ich bereits in die Parks, denn das Ticket war natürlich schon dabei.

Es kam dann später noch zu einem eher peinlichen Zwischenfall. Mir fielen beim Marsch durch Downtown Disney beide Karten aus dem abgenutzten Badge. War ich wohl etwas unaufmerksam. Gut, zurück zum Front Desk und Problem geschildert. Information der CM, nachdem sie kurz Lost & Found angerufen hat: Room Key wird gratis ersetzt, Parkticket müsse ich ein neues kaufen – man verwies mich nach der Ausstellung eines neuen Room Keys weiter an einen Ticketschalter. Irgendwie hatte ich das Gefühl, dass es doch nicht sein kann, dass ich mein Ticket nochmals kaufen müsse. Das müsste doch irgendwo im System sein, der Beweis, dass ich für mein Ticket bezahlt habe. Habe ja immerhin ein Package gebucht. Mir kam dann eine Idee: Ich habe mal die Tickets meiner Bekannten und das von Vater miteinander verglichen. Siehe da – mein verlorenes Ticket hatte genau die Seriennummer zwischen den beiden anderen Tickets. Zusammen mit den zwei noch vorhandenen Tickets und der zu Hause ausgedruckten Booking Confirmation bin ich dann an einen Ticketschalter vor den Parks. Die CM hat sich das kurz angesehen und mir dann anstandslos und gratis ein neues Ticket ausgestellt. Das könne schon mal vorkommen, meinte sie. Super! Das ist noch Disney-Service!

Zurück zu meinem Hotel. Zimmer also noch nicht bereit. Macht nichts. Zeit also, entweder gleich in die Parks zu gehen oder ein bisschen das Areal des Resorts zu erkunden. Kaum mit dem Check-In-Prozess fertig, sah ich ein paar Characters durch die Lobby gehen. Characters in einem Disney-Resort – das gibt’s in WDW nicht. Als erstes hat sich er hier Zeit genommen für ein Bild:

Bis plötzlich – man glaubt es kaum – niemand geringeres als mein Baloo himself an mir vorbei lief. Also nichts wie hinterher. Eingeholt habe ich ihn dann aber erst drüben im anderen Gebäude – er war auf dem Weg Richtung Goofy’s Kitchen Restaurant – welches aber zu der Zeit am Nachmittag geschlossen hatte. Nachdem ich zweimal seinen Namen gerufen hatte, drehte er sich tatsächlich um und nahm sich kurz Zeit. Er war natürlich geehrt, dass er mein Favorite Character war, was in einer dicken Umarmung resultierte. Danke an den zufällig daneben stehenden Gast, welcher diese Momente ganz spontan festgehalten hat – und ebenfalls Danke an unseren stitch, welcher die nicht ganz optimalen Bilder noch etwas aufhellen konnte:

Es sollte meine einzige Begegnung mit “Papa Bear” bleiben während diesem Aufenthalt. In den Parks sieht man ihn nicht und in Goofy’s Kitchen sollte ich schon zum zweiten Mal Pech haben. Dass hingegen Characters durch die Lobby des Disneyland Hotels wandeln, scheint laut einem CM jeden Nachmittag so zu sein. Baloo hab ich zwar nicht mehr gesehen, aber Chip & Dale, Goofy und Pluto dafür mehrmals. Alles Characters, die auch beim Goofy’s Kitchen Character Meal regulär anzutreffen sind. Doch davon später.

Das fing ja toll an. Gemeinsam mit meiner Begleitung hab ich dann beschlossen, mal kurz Disneyland zu besuchen, bis unsere Suite bereit ist. Bilder aus den Parks zeige ich in den nächsten Teilen, also springen wir gleich drei Stunden vorwärts. Die SMS erreichte uns dann tatsächlich kurz vor 16 Uhr und so ging es zurück in Richtung Hotel, um das Gepäck auszuladen und die Suite zu beziehen.

Das Disneyland Hotel befindet sich – wie die beiden anderen Disney-Resorts auch – in Gehdistanz zu den beiden Parks – gleich am anderen Ende von Downtown Disney, wie man auf dem Übersichtsplan gut sehen kann.

Das Disneyland Hotel besteht aus drei Gebäuden – dem Frontier Tower, Adventure Tower und dem Fantasy Tower. In letzterem befindet sich die Lobby und das Front Desk – sowie auch meine Suite. Wer hätte gedacht, dass Zimmer 2103 nicht im zweiten, sondern im dritten Stock liegt? Im Disneyland Hotel muss man immer die beiden ersten Ziffern der Zimmernummer addieren, um das Stockwerk herauszufinden. Also hoch mit dem Aufzug.

Fast ganz am Ende des Korridors dann die Zimmertür – 2103 und 2105 die Zimmernummern, mit zwei Zugängen vom Korridor her. Hinter Tür 2105 war dann mein Platz - das Zimmer mit den beiden Queen Beds:

Wow! Welch tolles Zimmer. Wieder mal so richtig grosszügig und angenehm luxuriös, so wie ich das mag. Ganz genial: Das Headboard hinter dem Bett mit Sleeping Beauty Castle. Da konnte man sogar die LED’s des Feuerwerks einschalten und wenn man das tat, ertönte kurz die Melodie von „A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes“. Kissen sind auch wieder zahlreich vorhanden und die Bettkante ist hoch. Naja, bin ja noch jung. Wie schon auf der Crusie Line finde ich das blaue, kleine Kissen ein sehr netter Touch.

Nicht berauschend war dagegen die Aussicht. Man sah auf die Vorfahrt und den Parkplatz. Nicht weiter schlimm – wenigstens stimmte das Theming im Innern. Alle Features der Suite sehr (und hört!) ihr in meinem Videorundgang:

Zwei Swimming Pools gibt es – den E-Ticket-Pool und den D-Ticket-Pool – benannt also nach den Eintrittstickets in den Anfängen von Disneyland. Wie der Name vermuten lässt, sind sie nicht spektakulär und nicht gross. Netter Touch sind allerdings die auf den Kacheln aufgedruckten E- bzw. D-Tickets. In die Pool Area kommt man übrigens nur mit dem Room Key rein. Hat immerhin funktioniert.

Wassertemperatur war in beiden Pools knapp genügend, dürften aber nicht die 28°C gewesen sein, die man sich aus WDW gewohnt ist. Fast schon zu heiss war es in den beiden Whirlpools – hier einer davon. Die waren immerhin angenehm gross und trotz des eher kühlen Wetters selten stark besucht:

Herzstück der neuen Pool Area ist aber der Kinderbereich mit zwei riesigen Rutschen, die nach den ersten Disneyland-Monorails thematisiert sind. Schön gemacht – doch fielen mir am Geländer im darunterliegenden, flachen Pool bereits erste Rostspuren auf. Wer zum Teufel verbaut denn nicht rostfreies Material in einen Swimming Pool?

Die beiden Swimming Pools hab ich am letzten Tag kurz genutzt, den Whirlpool an zwei Abenden. 3 Tage sind halt gar wenig Zeit.

Auch von der Pool Area habe ich für euch ein Video gedreht, damit man sich das besser vorstellen kann.

In dem Fantasy Tower befand sich auch der Shop des Resorts. Leider war da gar nichts resortspezifisches zu finden. Ich hätte jeweils gerne ein Shirt von jedem Resort, in dem ich übernachtet habe. Aber hier, selbst in einem für WDW-Massstäbe Deluxe Resort, gab es nichts in der Richtung. Dabei gäbe es doch mit der Monorail-Rutsche ein Motiv, welches man verarbeiten könnte.
